Our story

Transforming lives by bridging the gap between privilege and poverty

Aiyamiddun (ஐயமிட்டுண்) draws its inspiration from an ancient wisdom encoded in the Tamil heritage, specifically from the Athichudi, penned by the esteemed poet and philosopher Auvaiyar in the 12th century.The word “Aiyamiddun” which teaches us to “share food with the needy before you eat.” This profound principle became the cornerstone of our foundation, conceived by Mr. Muraledaran Selvarajah OAM, who recognized the urgent need to bridge the gap between privilege and poverty in Sri Lanka. Witnessing firsthand the disparities in opportunity and access to basic needs, Mr. Selvarajah embarked on a heartfelt mission decades ago, aiming to nourish the bodies and minds of underprivileged children in his homeland.

Under the banner of Aiyamiddun, we strive to transform the lives of these children by ensuring they receive the education and nutrition necessary for their holistic development. Our work is a testament to the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive, not just survive.
